A Classic in the Making.
We love simplicity, we also love Mario - who doesn't? When we designed the Classic Mario T-shirt that was what we were after. Following that theme we'll keep this post short and to the point as we show you a little behind-the-scenes production of the T-shirt itself.
The inspiration came from the original Japanese Super Famicom packaging, that featured the console drawn in as few lines as possible, in the now famous SNES colours. It was as striking then as it is today, and a statement of the worth of Mario to the console.
Technically the shirt is extremely simple. A series of non-joining lines hint at the well-known features we have all come to love. The round nose, comic moustache, iconic hat and gloves, with a hint of those unmistakable dungarees, punctuated by the gold buttons – defining elements to a classic character.
The shirt has been printed in five colours - red, blue, green, yellow, with white underpinning each for vibrance. The grey mélangelange shirt is the colour of the console – and uses a Climate Neutral cotton, organic and ethically made. Our printers kindly sent some shots of the shirts as they were being printed.
